JOURNEY OF SCHOOL LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

The School Leadership Academy (SLA) was established in the year 2018 as per the guidelines of the National Centre for School Leadership (NCSL), the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) and then shifted to the State Institute of Educational Management and Training (SIEMAT) in the year 2020. Twenty Head Masters/Principals constituted the core group members of SLA who were apprised on the modalities to be followed for the School Leadership Academy through two online orientation programmes. A number of orientation programmes, activities, and group discussions were conducted to empower school leaders for qualitative education and for the holistic development of students. A detailed description of the preparation of the modules as per the identification of problems at the school / regional levels was discussed through online mode. A format was given to write modules. Interviews were conducted with active school leaders from Andhra Pradesh. Video documentaries were developed on school transformation by the efforts of SIET and the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in collaboration with SIEMAT, Samagra Shiksha. These video documentaries are uploaded to the SLA YouTube Channel. Leadership modules were developed by the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Srikakulam. It covered topics on Value Education, Stress Management, Gender Sensitivity, Time Management and Adolescent Education. These modules were submitted to the NCSL-NIEPA. School development modules were translated into Telugu by DIET, Aangaluru, Krishna district. Online orientation programmes were conducted by the NCSL-NIEPA for school leadership core group members on the development of school leadership modules based on the critical awareness of the problems and solutions of school leadership in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
